Organiser’s Comments
At the third attempt we managed to run the event at Panshanger Park. But what a difference a day makes! Friday was perfect, cool and clear. Ditto Sunday. But Saturday was atrocious. In spite of this we had a most impressive turnout, with 95% of entrants deciding to brave the elements. We trust you had an enjoyable run.
Our thanks go to all the helpers, the unsung heroes but especially to the parkers, marshals and starters who had to stand around in the cold and rain. Particular mention goes to our controller, Roger, who stepped in at the last minute after a covid-related withdrawal.
Parking is always a problem at Panshanger and we tried to alleviate this by using Sele School. This had the big advantage of keeping the SI team warm and dry and also providing toilets for all entrants. However, it turned out that the allotted area was too small, especially with such a high turnout and we do apologise to those who were left hunting parking spots on the surrounding streets. The longish walk to the start was unavoidable and the path through the wood confusing; a “go left” sign would have helped!
